purple panda gelato & popsicles, mornington
Purple Panda in Mornington offers dozens of delicious gelato - including dairy free options as well as a range of fruity popsicles. And they have a decadent treat that this Mamma has never seen before. Think of it as made-to-order McFlurry - but with much tastier ice cream and loads of add-ins and toppings!
There’s a new place to get your scoop! Technically, the venue isn’t new - but new owners have taken over the former ice cream shop, given it a great purple makeover and added some incredibly delicious treats to their menu!
Purple Panda in Mornington offers dozens of delicious gelato flavours - including dairy free options as well as a range of fruity popsicles. And they have a decadent treat that this Mamma has never seen before. Think of it as made-to-order McFlurry - but with much tastier ice cream and loads of add-ins and toppings!
This is how it works: Choose the flavour ice-cream that you would like as your base, (Mamma’s crew opted for salted caramel), then choose your blend in from options like Oreo, Biscoff, Twix, Coco Pops, Flake and so many more.
Then it goes into a funnel and gets blended through a soft-serve like tap and comes out into a delicious flavoursome soft texture. Lastly top it off with some more sweet things like sprinkles, gummi bears, sour worms, Tim Tams and more! You could also choose an acai mix for a healthier alternative.
Of course you can also get all of your usual faves like milkshakes, thickshakes, smoothies and sundaes too. If you love gelato, you really need to check this place out!

Mamma’s 5 and 2 year old were on their best behaviour, with the cabinet of freshly baked treats the exclusive topic of conversation during lunch. From cannoli and macarons to traditional Italian cookies and cruffins - the sugar hit is real and it is delicious.
There is plenty of room inside for prams and with an undercover carpark with direct access to the cafe, getting there with the brood is easy peasy.

Their shopfront is hard to miss, with colourful cartoons and festoon lights adorning the windows and awning. Inside, rainbow lighting and black lights let you know you’re in for an immersive experience.
Famous for their glow in the dark night sessions, Dessertopia have recently installed black out blinds so that the kidlets can enjoy the magic of this experience during the day too! With desserts in the shape of iconic pop culture characters like Psyduck, Totoro and Mario’s Super Mushroom to name a few - it’s hard to believe that these works of art taste even better than they look… but they do!
There is plenty of seating inside, though they tend to get busy on weekends and nights so Mamma suggests hopping online and booking a table just to be safe.

Mamma’s 4 year old made easy work of the strawberries and cream milkshake the size of her head while mister fancy pants only stopped crying once he tasted their amazing Kunefe. The “big kids” couldn’t go past the decadent and ultra creamy San Sebastian cheesecake complete with warm chocolate sauce **drool**.
If you’ve managed to score a child free date night, mamma suggests heading here after dark for a sweet treat since they’re open until late!
