banks brewery, seaford

A family friendly brewery with a playground? Now you’re speaking Mamma’s language. You’ll find Banks Brewing hiding at the end of an industrial cul-de-sac in the beachside suburb of Seaford.

A family friendly brewery with a playground? Now you’re speaking Mamma’s language. You’ll find Banks Brewery hiding at the end of an industrial cul-de-sac in the beachside suburb of Seaford.

Their access-only carpark is home to the brewery's beer garden, partially fenced playground, table tennis table and basketball ring… Mamma told you it was family friendly!

Venture inside and you will find a generous beer hall decked out with festoon lights, neon signs and the buzz of punters watching the game on one of the many TVs (and projector screen) dotted around the space.

The grown ups are kept happy with a rotation of 17 beers and alcoholic sodas on tap, while the kids and teetotalers are looked after with  mocktails, juice boxes and soft drinks.

The food menu here does not disappoint either. With a decent selection of pizzas, bar snacks and share plates available at all times, you’ll also find the kitchen slinging burgers on a Thursday night. Mamma’s crew could not go past the hot honey chicken tenders, stuffed flatbread and “hold the lettuce” pizza - think if a cheeseburger and a pizza had a baby… extra pickles.

With a little bit of everything to keep the whole family happy, this place will quickly become a family go to - you can BANKS on that.

st andrews beach brewery, fingal

Wow folks, St. Andrew’s Beach Brewery is the perfect location for your next family get together - good food, drinks and a great atmosphere, what more could you ask for!

Wow folks, St. Andrew’s Beach Brewery is the perfect location for your next family get together - good food, drinks and a great atmosphere, what more could you ask for!

Let’s start with the origins of St. Andrew’s Beach Brewery as it’s a really cool story… in the early 2000’s the original owners of this great venue built a racetrack on the property for the royal family of Australian horse racing – the Freedman Brothers. In 2015 the property came up for sale, so the brothers brought it and turned the former stables into a brewery - which is why you’ll see horse racing feature throughout the venue.

The vibes of this place are second to none - you’ll feel it when you walk in. Mamma loves to sit outside in one of the stables on a summers day, enjoying a premium craft beer or some nibbles to share.

Let’s talk about the food… Mamma has one word for you all: YUM!

Start with some of the smaller plates - you’ll be able to choose from calamari, tacos, croquettes, olives and focaccia or wings - oh my! Fancy something more substantial? Order from their amazing variety of pizzas, or choose from their bigger menu options - steak, burgers, or the delicious American BBQ tray. Can’t make up your mind? Order the chef’s feed and they’ll choose for you! There’s a great kids menu too for the little ones to choose from.

The beers are amazing too - there’s a huge selection of their own beers on tap that you can try. Mamma loves to order a paddle board so she can get to experience the variety on offer!

Oh - and you can host events at St. Andrew’s Beach Brewery - perfect for your next celebration!

Mamma thinks St. Andrew’s Beach Brewery needs to be added to your list - check it out!

Throw in an outside decking area and a grass courtyard and there’s pencils and board games too!

The owners are parents, and know how hard it is to navigate a meal out with kids, so you can be assured that there is plenty of space inside - and out, for your prams; there’s plastic cups for the kids.

The food is delicious - especially the wood-fired pizzas, and the kids meals are very generous sizes. It was Mamma’s duty to order the tasting paddle, to sample some of the beer on offer - and can happily report back that they are ALL delicious!

The brewpub boasts an impressive menu of beers on tap, with a more succinct food menu comprising primarily of pizzas to complement.

Pizza and beer, what more do you need?! Mamma’s answer… Two Rupee’s delicious and fragrant Sri Lankan pan rolls - curried meat or vegetables wrapped in a crepe and fried until brown and crispy. They were sooo good in fact, that mamma’s 4 year old didn’t even care that they were a little spicy.

So grab the kids and head over to Two Rupees for an easy last minute meal or to watch the footy on one of the many screens dotted throughout the brewery… oh, and they’re dog friendly too so don’t forget to bring the pooch!

devilbend farm beer brewery, tuerong

Devilbend Farm Beer Brewery is a great family friendly spot that place that the whole family will love!

The Devilbend Farm Beer Brewery in Tuerong, is the perfect location for a family lunch or a drink with mates. With a rustic wood and corrugated iron shed set-up and bush scenery, you will feel like you have travelled to the country!

There’s over 10 beers on tap and dozens of local wine to check out. The focus is on ‘paddock to pint’, so they grow their hops and grains, so each batch is fresh - and Mamma can vouch for it being delicious, too!

The remnants of the former apple orchard make up the fit out of this old barn-style brewery; old pallets make up part of the live-edge bar, and logs of wood are resurfaced as funky dining tables.

You can sit indoors with a wood heater and large windows overlooking the surrounding farm, where the ingredients for the Devilbend beer is grown. Inside there is a kids corner with a soft floor mat, toys, mini chalkboard and plenty of things to colour with (in warmer months the indoor area is moved outside).

Or you can sit outside, with heaters and a firepit for those colder days. The kids can be kept busy with the outdoor playground - including an undercover tin shelter with blackboard and sandpit - there’s also a tyre swing, bikes and scooters to ride on too.

It’s a great place that the whole family will love! Even the furry kids are welcome here - with a pet station (including treats!) set up outside.

bad shepherd brewing co, cheltenham

Mamma loves a suburban brewery and this one is anything but “bad”.

Mamma loves a suburban brewery and this one is anything but “bad”. On the edge of Cheltenham’s industrial and residential precincts, Bad Shepherd Brewing Co has been slinging beers and filling bellies since 2015.

With a rotating tap list of 17 in-house beers and a mouth watering menu of comforting American BBQ classics, it’s easy to understand why Bad Shepherd is a favourite amongst locals.

Sit back and relax with a pint while the kids entertain themselves in the cubby house or grab one of the many board games available and duke it out with the fam over a BBQ platter.

The food here is SO good. Mamma dreams about their brisket and pulled pork while the littlies absolutely devour the corn ribs, chicken and chips and, obviously, the cookies and cream cheesecake.

The good news - their opening times are conducive to early family dinners, so feeding the kids by 5 is not a problem here. If you’ve hit mid week and the idea of rustling up a meal for the fam feels like a bridge too far, Mamma recommends taking advantage of Bad Shepherd’s 50c Wednesday Wings (from 5pm until sold out). With 23 flavours to choose from, it won’t be hard to keep everyone happy!

Did you know that there’s a VODKA DISTILLERY in the South? This Mamma did NOT, and WOW, this place is amazing!

Did you know that there’s a VODKA DISTILLERY in the South? This Mamma did NOT, and WOW, this place is amazing! It’s one of a very few dedicated vodka distilleries in Australia.

The idea for this distillery came about while owner Gen was on maternity leave and started creating vodka at home, and then along with her brother, Penni Ave was born! Here they distill the most INCREDIBLE botanical vodka, infused with native botanicals like Lemon Myrtle and Kakadu Plum; you will just love the smooth, and fruity flavours.

You can sample all the flavours with a tasting paddle, or opt for a signature cocktail. Mamma highly recommends the Kakadu Mule - it is incredible! When you discover your favourite, you can buy a bottle to take home or there’s even delicious ready-to-drink cans you take home as well. The Kakadu Plum vodka with lime, ginger and soda is spectacular!

There are rotating food trucks here, so you can grab some food to go along with your beverages, and yep - the kids, and dogs - are more than welcome, too!

Can you picture a better spot for your Friday or Saturday night than at this micro brewery offering … live music, great food, delicious boutique beer and … KIDS EAT FREE?!

Yep, on Friday and Saturday nights kids eat free (with a main meal ordered), and the kids menu is YUM! Crispy, succulent chicken served with crunchy golden fries or cheesy hand-stretched pizzas to name a few.

The kids can be kept busy with one of many boardgames, puzzles, coloring sheets, and UNO, while the adults can sit back and enjoy the live music, pool table and cold award-winning craft beers.

Sit in a cosy little bar, enjoy a cocktail or spirit flight, a cheese board or a toastie, whilst hearing all about the distillery process from their delightful staff.

That Spirited Lot is a small-batch distillery, tucked away in a little warehouse in Seaford. They specialise in gin, and recently - vodka, and it is AMAZING!
It’s made with patience and care, by passionate brothers, whose love and knowledge of the industry is clearly evident.
You can now sit in a cosy little bar, enjoy a cocktail or spirit flight, a cheese board or a toastie, whilst hearing all about the process from their delightful staff.

Mamma recommends getting the spirit flight as it is a great way to sample the many different flavoured spirits on offer. Top pick is the Grandfather Vodka - which is flavoured with Commonfolk coffee beans and is just perfection - and of course you can’t go past their awarding winning Ninch Dry Gin - spectacular.

They also serve (and sell take home bottles) of delicious home-made soda, which is made right there in the distillery. A lower sugar and much tastier alternative to traditional soft-drinks, and is the perfect accompaniment to the delicious spirits!

This is the perfect spot for a relaxed drink with the girls - a date day or you could bring your kids, too - as there are sodas and toasties they can eat - just bring a colouring book for them so they don’t run around - as the space is quite small.
This is a family-run business and you just couldn’t meet a nicer bunch of people! Head down there, have a chat and check out all that they offer.
