bentleigh farmers market, east bentleigh

Held on the forth Saturday of the month at East Bentleigh Primary School, this lovely local market has a big focus on fresh, seasonal produce.

If you like when your Saturday morning plans include a coffee, fresh produce and a little bit of a wander - gather up some reusable bags and plan a visit to Bentleigh Farmers Market!

Held on the forth Saturday of the month at East Bentleigh Primary School, this lovely local market has a big focus on fresh, seasonal produce. There’s plenty to browse, with farmers and producers bringing along locally grown and made goodies.

And Mamma loves that there are no resellers here, so you’re buying straight from the people who know, grow and make everything. So you can be sure you’re filling your shopping bags with fresh stuff that hasn’t had to travel far.

Even when the weather is not very favourable for marketing there is always a steady stream of people heading in and coming back out with their bags full of produce! Clearly, a bit of rain won’t stop locals getting their hands on the goodies on offer here.

The market is hosted at and run as a fundraiser for East Bentleigh Primary School, helping support the school and its Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program. So your Saturday morning shop is doing a little bit of good too! And this also means there’s a little playground right beside the market stalls area too, so if the weather is fine, with all the tasty food and drink on offer you might want to settle in for a couple of hours!

What better way to tackle the weekly shopping list than walking in the fresh air with a coffee and pastry in hand?! This Mamma especially appreciated the multiple playgrounds, cornhole and classic primary school pavement games that kept the kidlets occupied.

Once you’ve finished stocking the kitchen, grab a snag or some fried to order arancini and walk through the dedicated makers hall full of local artisan products.

Don’t forget to bring your spare change as entry is a gold coin donation with all proceeds going to Mulgrave Primary School!

Held on the first Saturday of the month, Kingston Farmers market in Cheltenham is a staple in this Mamma’s diary.

Whether the fam are there to grab some fresh produce, meat, coffee or hot food, the farmers market delivers on all accounts.

Mamma can’t go past the fresh scones baked on site, the frozen orange juice slushies and the spiced sourdough fruit loaf, teaming with dried figs, apricots and apple.

If the food and groceries don’t get the kids excited, then the market’s proximity to Kingston Heath Reserve playground will do the trick. So once you’ve ticked everything off the shopping list, grab a coffee and a pastry, take a seat by the play equipment and watch the kids climb and slide their way into the afternoon.
