Held on the first Saturday of the month, Kingston Farmers market in Cheltenham is a staple in this Mamma’s diary.
Whether the fam are there to grab some fresh produce, meat, coffee or hot food, the farmers market delivers on all accounts.
Mamma can’t go past the fresh scones baked on site, the frozen orange juice slushies and the spiced sourdough fruit loaf, teaming with dried figs, apricots and apple.
If the food and groceries don’t get the kids excited, then the market’s proximity to Kingston Heath Reserve playground will do the trick. So once you’ve ticked everything off the shopping list, grab a coffee and a pastry, take a seat by the play equipment and watch the kids climb and slide their way into the afternoon.

Perched beside Bunyip Station, you will find aisles of market stalls, shaded by huge leafy trees. Stalls range from sweet treats to dog treats and SO much in-between!
There’s something for the whole family, but Mamma’s crew can never go past a lucky-dip and are seriously impressed with the ones on offer here.
From hand-made jewellery, plants, made-on-site caramel nuts, knitted toys and clothes, fidgets, books - even a milk bar on wheels! With 150 stalls to peruse most months, you are sure to come home with something special. And it’s not a trip to the market without a snag from the community sausage sizzle!

Located on the grounds of Elwood Primary school, this bi-monthly market boasts fresh produce, artisanal foods, hot coffee, multiple playgrounds, ample shade and onsite bathrooms (hallelujah!).
This Mamma sat under the shade of a beautiful leafy green tree while little miss dancer got her groove on to the tunes filling the air. The ambiance here is like a warm hug - alongside the live music, there is a general hum of chatter, laughter and community spirit.
This market is super dog friendly (on lead obviously) so grab the kids and the pooch and make a morning of it. Between the donuts and dog treats, the hardest part will be getting everyone back in the car.

Everyone South side probably heard the squeals of excitement when this Mamma found out there was a new market in town, and the good news is… it’s AH-MAZING!
Held bi-monthly and set around the picturesque lake of Basterfield park, the new Hampton East Market boasts an impressive lineup of over 100 makers, sweet treats and street food vendors.
Walk down the tree lined paths of the park while you soak in the buzzing atmosphere and shop the incredible artisan products on offer. But be sure to pause for a moment and fawn over the baby ducklings wading around the lake - they are super cute!
Once you’re all shopped out, why not grab yourself an authentic wood fired pizza or Philly cheesesteak and sit down on the grass while the kids play in one of the two (yes two!) playgrounds.
Mamma’s hot tip is to coax the kids off the equipment with some decadent meringue kisses or a delicious cup of chocolate covered strawberries - and treat yourself while you’re at it… it would be rude not to.
