charlie’s auto museum, arthurs seat
Looking for something a little different on the Mornington Peninsula? Tucked away in Arthurs Seat, Charlie's Auto Museum is one of those places that has something for everyone – whether you're a lifelong car enthusiast or simply looking for a fun family day out.
What started as Charlie’s personal collection has grown into an incredible museum filled with more than 100 years of motoring history. Wander through displays of vintage cars, motorcycles, quirky microcars, petrol pumps, nostalgic signs and all sorts of fascinating memorabilia. The collection is constantly evolving. Mamma’s crew loves the Goggo mobile and also a model Luna Park - that even included the Gravitron (remeber that?!)!
There’s also a quirky little retro diner. Styled like a step back in time, it features an old-fashioned blackboard menu. Don't expect smashed avo here – instead you'll find "specials" like flat beer, dripping on toast and chitlings, adding plenty of old-school fun to the experience. Mamma’s crew even googled - “what are chitlings?" and were not impressed!
Families will also appreciate the little outdoor playground and picnic area, making it easy to stretch the legs before or after exploring the museum. Tea, coffee, cold drinks and ice creams are available to purchase, and there's a small selection of souvenirs and model cars to take home.
So whether your kids (or husbands!) are obsessed with wheels or you're introducing them to the cars of the past, this hidden gem offers a fun, nostalgic experience that appeals to all ages. Add it to your Mornington Peninsula list!
