natured kids, outdoor playgroup

Who’s ready to get back to nature?! Embark on a new adventure each week with this fantastic outdoor playgroup!

Who’s ready to get back to nature?! Embark on a new adventure each week with this fantastic outdoor playgroup that will enlighten both young and old about the care and commitment to our local environment, through specially curated songs and activities.

This Mamma got to attend a session held in the beautiful gardens at Cruden Farm, which was run by the founder and outdoor educator - Narelle. We made hats to match the theme for that week (bats), dug in the dirt for insects, sang songs, explored the trees for nests and ended with a book on the mat while the children enjoyed their snacks from home.

After the session we then took our time exploring the farm to find a tractor, some ducks in the lake and a cow or two! There are plenty of tables and benches for a picnic as well as toilets in two areas around the property. It was a great morning outside and we all had a blast!

Mamma’s special mention: The playgroup is for 0-6 year olds and runs in six week sessions per term with two 45 minute sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday morning - 9:30am and 10:30am. The sessions can fill up fast, so get in ASAP if you’re keen to get involved.

mumtographers, melbourne

Babies, bush-walking and photography! Mamma loves the sound of that!

Mamma loves photography. It is my creative outlet and I love nothing more than capturing special moments and memories for the years to come. Julie knows this too and wants to help other mums develop their skills with a camera in hand, as well as helping mums explore their local area - JUST LIKE MAMMA!

Eastie photographer Julie,  runs photography walks throughout Melbourne where you can attend, learn how to take some great snaps with other Mammas and bring your kiddos along too. Strap on the baby carrier, load up the pram and stock up on the snacks because the kids are joining you as Julie guides you through a new location each month. So far a gang of mums - mumtographers - have explored the city laneways, captured the streets of Richmond, the views of Cranbourne Botanical Gardens and seascape of St Kilda Pier. No fancy cameras are required, but if you have a wizz bang set up, you can learn about shooting in manual mode as you cruise along.

Mamma's special mention: Mums understand mums - if there needs to be a nappy change along the way, no drama, no one is left behind. There may even be time to grab a coffee and babycino at the end of the session.

bowling with babies in the south

A mums group session on the bowling green - Mamma likes the sound of that!

Mamma is digging everything about Bowling with Babies. The seasonal program held at selected Bowls clubs throughout Melbourne is so perfect, especially for first time Mammas looking for opportunities to get outside during the day, get a little active and meet other local mums.

Sessions are super relaxed and laid back. Club facilitators are there to help teach mums the correct techniques and help with games, but often games are abandoned or paused while the babies have a feed, they need some attention or when the coffee is delivered! Almost the most important part is that connection you can make with the other mums.

Often mums groups will join in as a whole group and choose the Bowls Club as the venue for their catch ups. Clubs ensure they have change tables, comfy spots to feed as well as play pens if you want to use them. The babes at our session spent time in their prams, on some blankets and plenty of time crawling on the green. Older children are still welcome, but the more mobile the more mum has to keep an eye on them!

Mamma's special mention: Mamma enjoyed our session at Lilydale Bowls Club over in the east and there are sessions being planned in the South. Head to the Bowls Victoria website to register your interest and find your closest club.
