In the opposite direction to the stunning Australian Gardens at Cranbourne Botanic Gardens, you find this wonderful - newly upgraded - woodland picnic area and TWO playgrounds.
This is the perfect place to have a family picnic and immerse yourself in nature. The brand new stunning wooden playground has an obstacle course incorporating lots of climbing and balancing logs and ropes, insect doors and hotels, sandpits, lounging nets, a section to make your own tee-pees from recycled branches, a path perfect for bikes/scooters and nature play, and is surrounded by beautiful bushland and native plants and animals.
And, of course, there’s the original playground as well! Set amongst one giant sand-pit there’s some pretty cool equipment for all ages. There’s two large climbing pyramids joined by a bridge; swings, rocking horses, spinning circles and a slide.
To get there, follow the bush track from the car park for around 400 metres to discover it. This is totally pram and bike friendly, but be on the lookout for wildlife. Signs say that you are sharing your path with snakes, so beware. Mamma has never sighted a slimy creature, although we have found wallabies and some wombat holes!
Along the path you will find some logs to sit around and admire the surroundings. There is a heap of open grass space to unpack a picnic blanket and enjoy, as well as two sheltered picnic areas.
It’s the perfect spot to appreciate the beauty of nature!

The Old Cheese Factory is a beautiful community space. Brilliant playground on a stunning homestead!
The Old Cheese Factory is a beautiful community space. Firstly for the cheese and farm themed playground, complete with windmill, tractor, farm animals and shops. The brie, cheddar and blue vein stepping blocks have to be the most creative Mamma has ever seen. Great for your preschoolers!
And the stunning grounds of the homestead itself! You have to go a-wandering past all the old buildings, find the little bridge over the pond, check out the old well, and have a picnic amongst the beautiful shady trees OR even host a party in one of the rooms.
This is the perfect spot to spend a few hours with the family.

This amazing playground has it ALL! Fully fenced - toilets - water play and more!
If Mamma had to write a dream list of all the things that the crew wished for at a playground, it would amount to this fantastic spot!
Where to start. Well, firstly, the most important - practical - things to a family with young kids - toilets! Closely followed by being FULLY fenced in. There’s a Changing Places restroom, catering for the disabled. The playground also has all-abilities equipment. There are multiple undercover BBQs with picnic tables and a water tap, making it perfect to spend a few hours.
Then there’s the fun stuff! The playground is grouped into different ‘themed’ areas. As you walk in you will see the ‘aquatic’ zone first. Mamma’s little one loved this one the most. It is set to look ‘under the sea’ with a few clear circular seats set amongst red poles - perhaps imitating anemones? That’s what Mamma told the crew, anyway! There’s also a water pump offering a bit of water play.
There’s the ‘birds in flight’ zone, which offers multiple swings, a flying fox, huge tunnel and a twirly slide. Also a large xylophone you can make pretty sounds with. There are also two ‘calm down’ areas with kids can sit and read the ways to calm down. This is very cool and unique.
The ‘lettuce zone’ and ‘amphibian zone’ offer sandpits, multiple slides under shade cloth, spinning wheels, tunnels, inground trampolines, balance beams with lizard imprints and more!
So to summarise, there are toilets - water play - cool play equipment - undercover BBQ area - plenty of bench seats - it’s fully fenced AND there’s even a wireless phone charging station! AMAZING.
*Note - at time of visiting, there was construction on the slide area and water play switched off.

Mamma can’t recall seeing a slide this HUGE before in the South, and there’s not one, but TWO giant twirly beauties. Add to that is a basketball court, a bmx/skate park, a cement court with a rebound wall, a separate, shaded toddler area with lots of climbing/tunnel play equipment, sandpit with digger, rock-climbing wall, an undercover BBQ shelter, and a path going around the park - perfect for bikes! There’s also exercise equipment scattered in all corners of the park.

This is such a great little playground. Overlooking Tooradin Jetty, surrounded by huge (great for climbing!) leafy trees and brightly coloured equipment - it’s a beautiful space to play in.
Climb up to the top of the lighthouse and check out that view! Then disembark down the huge slide. Beware though - as even though adults CAN fit down the slide, they probably shouldn’t - the twists aren’t great for adult bodies as The Hubby found out the hard way!
There’s great musical equipment such as a piano type board, where kids can follow the music notes and play a song!
All of your usual play equipment are here - swings, slides, climbing frames, balancing boards, spinning wheel and more.
There’s grassy space opposite for a picnic or to kick a ball, plus picnic tables, a BBQ and some undercover picnic tables.

The obstacle zone is for your more adventurous little ones with balancing beams, climbing tunnels, monkey bars and stepping stones. There is always a lot of concentration happening in this half of the playspace and huge smiles when the challenges are overcome. The classic playground here has retained its original toddler structures, complete with bridges, slides, spinning games and climbing ladders. It is under the cover of shade cloths and great for little ones. Added bonus, this play zone is fully fenced.
Lastly, beyond this playground you will find the BIG KID ninja zone. This fitness zone is brilliant with adult sized monkey bars, climbing walls, battle ropes as well as outdoor fitness equipment, basketball and tennis zones. This is such a cute little park with a heap of imaginative play, natural elements and bike tracks.
This is such a cute little park. It offers a heap of imaginative play options, where kids can create their own story as to why there are giant eggs scattered throughout!
It’s a very ‘in touch with nature’ park, with lots of little tree stumps and wooden beams to balance on, logs to sit on, huge leafy trees and little wooden Australian animal statues.
There’s a giant wooden nest (hence the eggs) that you climb up to, with speakers and binoculars and two slides to dismount; a sandpit, swings and a musical pipe instrument that makes really beautiful sounds.
Pack your bike/scooter/skateboard as there are bike paths and little jumps as well.
A hidden treasure!

What a great improvement! The fences have been removed at Buchanan Park in Berwick and we raced down to test it out.
The design is a nice and fresh one for Mamma. A main structure with a tunnel sure looks cool, as well as the climbing net with wobbly balance thingos underneath. The climbing hand holds are cactus shaped and there is plenty of little things for the little ones at ground level. There’s a swinging sea-saw, a spinning round-about and a swing frame with two - yes TWO - toddler swings!
Our little guy couldn’t get up the main structure, no matter how much he tried on the ladders, but it is a little narrow up there, so keeping his little legs on solid ground is fine by this Mamma. The original playground is still here on the other side of the skate park so there is still fun to be had for the toddlers AND the big kids.

This great playground has heaps to keep kids of all ages happy!
Check out that slide! This is one for the older kids, as the climbing structure leading up to the slide is the only way you can get up there, and is quite complex for tiny feet; but awesome fun for the older monkeys.
But never fear! There is a heap for the little ones to do. Jump on in-ground trampolines, slide down multiple smaller slides, rock climb, twisty monkey bars, tunnels, nest and traditional swings and spider web climbing nets!
The reserve also has an undercover picnic area with BBQ facilities and tables, and yes - there are toilet facilities with a changing table!
Opposite the playground is an enclosed dog park complete with an obstacle obedience course.
Fun for the whole family here!

This cute little farm-themed park is built on the site of an old 19th Century family farm.
This is a clucking - awesome playground! This cute little farm-themed park is built on the site of an original 19th Century family farm. The picnic shelter is the ACTUAL remains of a cottage which resided on this land, built in 1875.
The little playground shows in a small scale of what the farm would have looked like. There’s a collection of pig statues, giant pitch forks and roosters, some old wagon-style bench seats, as well as a slide, swings, balancing beams, see-saw and rocking horse. There’s plenty of open grass space too, so pack the soccer ball or the footy. There’s also a sheltered area with a BBQ and some picnic tables. Next to the playground there is enclosed dog park with a training course.

This is one AWESOME spot!
Spread over 1.2 hectares with lush greenery covering all areas, it is more than just your average local playground!
Separated into little sections you will find a basketball court, amphitheatre, gym area, picnic table and BBQ, and a playground.
The playground is very nature-inspired. There’s loads of rocks, shrubs, tan bark and grass which lead up to a small hill surrounded by a wooden structure - which is home to 3 slides that run down the hill.
Be a palaeontologist for a day! There’s a small sandpit which covers some dinosaur fossils if you look closely enough. There’s also a water pump tap over a stony area that trickles into the sandpit. Creating a great opportunity for splashing around in some water play!
With a BBQ, shaded tables, large grassy area and a basketball court, this is a fantastic space to have a play.

Ladies and Gents, start your engines, pop on a helmet, ding those bells. GET READY TO RACE! There is a BRAND NEW Grand Prix themed playground and it is just made for riding. Whether your crew are into scooters, bikes, trikes or heck, just running, they will love this playground at Berwick Waters in Clyde North.
The yellow racing track, complete with bending corners, wicked overpass and funky humps, is the standout feature of the play space. Mamma lost count on how many laps were completed as the kids just wanted to keep going and going. It is so simple and so effective. The course is designed well to build up speed then slowing the kids down just before they hit the corners.
Also to be explored is the finishing-line play structure. This twin tower frame is super narrow to get to the top but has hidden bells and a great tunnel slide at the end. We also love having a jump on the inbuilt trampoline, a flying fox and swing set.

This GIANT BLUE slide is a must ride!
WOW is what came out of Little Miss’s mouth as soon as we saw the AMAZING slide at this awesome playspace!
Little Miss sped full-throttle up the hill as fast as those little legs could carry her!
The giant blue slide forms part of the tree-studded soft-mat hill, as you twist and turn all your way down to the bottom sand pit. Then race back up the top and do it over and over again.
There’s so much more fun to be had here, once you can tear the little ones away from the slide!
There is a two-storey high pirate ship, complete with binoculars, steering wheel, and a slide to disembark.
In a separate area there is another play structure packed full of fun. With sand scoops and shoots, slides and climbing equipment. All of the play space is covered in sand.
For the older kids there are pyramid rope climbing obstacles and large grassy areas to kick around a ball. You can then walk along the path toward the lake and watch as all the ducks and water birds come to check you out.
This park is loads of fun! Be prepared to stay for a few hours!

Hold on to your hats boys and girls...there are DINOSAURS all over this park. The Megasaurus Playground in Cranbourne East's Livingston Estate is one of a kind. 100 percent unique and one for the imagination. The standout feature has to be the brontosaurus with the flying fox that runs down it's belly, followed closely to the stegosaurus plates that appear to be rising from the ground. These are dotted with climbing holds and make a perfect track to race through and make a great big roar. Add to this the pterodactyl swing that doubles as a toddler hiding spot and the massive 20m long climbing frame that certainly hasn't been seen before. Great for the confident climbers to negotiate, they will quickly find things to rattle and shake, and finally slide down the astroturf covered tail at the end. The novelty factor continues with a nest complete with cracking dino eggs and signs cautioning all visitors of the prehistoric giants.
