/Don’t do motherhood alone - make more mum friends with Tired Mum Strolls
Good news mums - the struggle of finding mum mates is over!
Baby Walk is Australia’s new free, feel-good mum club that is taking off in Melbourne. They offer free weekly ‘Tired Mum Strolls’ across Australia to find more mum mates, feel good and get fresh air.
After giving birth, 90% of new mums report feeling lonely, and over half (54%) feel friendless according to new reports. Isolation, loss of identity and a desperate need for connection—these are the challenges woven into the fabric of early motherhood.
That’s why Baby Walk is on a mission to make sure #NoMumWalksAlone - so they have built the leading platform to find, join or start your own social pram walking group.
Check out their Tired Mum Map to see if there’s one near you yet.
If not, their team helps to coach mums to start their own “Tired Mum Stroll” in their local area.
Now, in neighbourhoods across Australia, groups of mums are gathering every week to stroll together and share in those unique struggles of early motherhood. What started as a simple call for company from founder, Kimberly Kay, has grown into a network of hundreds of mums nationwide—and it’s only just beginning.
“I had just moved to a new city while pregnant with my second baby, after spending my first maternity leave in strict lockdown and spiralling into a postnatal depression - I knew I had to do things differently this time round” says Baby Walk Org’s founder. “I reached out online, hoping to find just a few mums who wanted to meet up for a walk and coffee. The response was overwhelming, with over 250 mums replying.”
Since that first stroll in Melbourne’s southeast, demand has only grown, with over 100 mums now looking to start a Tired Mum Stroll in their local area. The movement is growing fast, because the truth is, mums are done navigating this journey alone.
Backed by research, these social strolls have proven more effective at reducing postnatal depression symptoms than traditional support groups, providing a low-pressure way to connect and offer each other real support.
While council-organised mothers’ groups provide a wonderful start, they’re often limited to first-time mums and can struggle to gain momentum if the group doesn’t “click” or lacks the leadership to initiate consistent meet-ups.
“So many mums just aren’t able to find that community they crave,” says the founder. “The truth is, not every council group gel, and meeting a stranger one-on-one through a friendship app can feel intimidating. But with Tired Mum Strolls, you know you’ll be met with a friendly face.”
Another huge drawcard of the walks is its gentle approach to postpartum exercise, and being a free alternative to expensive baby classes during the cost-of-living crisis.
In a world where so much of parenting is shared in highlight reels, Tired Mum Strolls bring back raw, in-person connection —-
“These weekly walks have changed my entire postpartum experience. I’m so so grateful,” says one mum. “I didn’t know how much I needed this village.”
If you’re done doing motherhood alone, you can join the hundreds of mums already transforming their motherhood journey through Tired Mum Strolls.
Because no mum should have to walk through motherhood alone..
