bayles fauna park, bayles
/Here’s a cute little reserve for a bit of wildlife spotting and a stroll.
Whilst Bayles Fauna Park isn’t huge or offer a heap of activities for the kids; it is set in a beautiful bush setting and is home to a couple of inquisitive emus and a bunch of very big and buff kangaroos, and offers an easy walk for little legs!
Stroll through the reserve and check out the old rail tracks and museum shed, or take in the sounds of native birds or the croaking frogs in the pond.
Mamma’s Tip - stick to the outside fence and walk around the perimeter, this way you avoid the longer grass (less chance of coming across a snake) and gives a great vantage point to spot the kangaroos from a distance!
It is a great place to view wildlife in their native setting, with kangaroos soaking in the sunshine - you might even spot an endangered southern brown bandicoot. Be respectful and keep your distance as these animals are not tame and free to live as they would in their native environment.
There is also a great little playground next to the fauna park, offering some picnic tables, a BBQ and a toilet.
This makes for a great place to stretch the legs on a drive - or for a daytrip in itself!
