little penguins, st kilda
IT’S ALMOST TIME TO WATCH THE PENGUINS COME HOME AGAIN!
You can now watch the penguins from a new viewing platform, featuring an elevated boardwalk with accessible entry and seating!
There will be two sessions per night, capped at 150 people per session.
The breakwater has been home to a colony of around 1400 little penguins, dating right back to when the pier was made for the Olympics in 1956. Just before sunset, these adorable penguins come ashore and find their homes amongst the rocks.
This is a FREE experience, but you do need to book. The volunteers are on hand to answer your questions, and to make sure the safety of the penguins is respected at all times. Please make sure you abide by the rules of no flash photography, and keeping your distance. After all, it is a truly awesome sight for us to view, but we must respect the penguins’ habitat.
Not only do you get to witness the penguin parade, but you also get to take in some magnificent views of the city as well!
Add this to your list folks, the kids (and yourself!) will love it!
Mamma's special mention:
Make a day of it by visiting Luna Park before, or dinner and drinks at The Espy!
